Oral Presentation Guidelines

  • Each oral presentation has an allotted time of 18 min, which consists of 15 min presentation and 3 min Q&A.

  • During each presentation the bell will be rung at the 13-min and 15-min time points. The presenter needs to finish his/her presentation by the second bell.

  • The presentation slides should be in standard (4:3) size.

  • A computer with a Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office PowerPoint application will be available in every conference room. Speakers are strongly encouraged to use this computer and prepare their presentation in MS PowerPoint format.

  • The PowerPoint file must be copied to the computer at the presentation venue (using a USB flash drive) and checked 10 min prior to the start of the oral session. Presenters who fail to copy their presentation file will not be included in the session.

  • If videos and special images are included in the presentation, the presenter is recommended to bring his/her own computer as such media may not be faithfully reproduced in the provided computer. In such a case, the presenter is requested to bring an adapter for the interface conversion, if necessary, because the projector only has a VGA connector.

  • Following isCEBT tradition, the presenters will take turns hosting the oral sessions (i.e., introducing the presenter and facilitating the Q&A): The last presenter will host the first presenter; the first presenter will host the second; the second presenter will host the third; and so on.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • The poster presentation includes a "flash talk" for 4 min and a poster exhibit for 80 min.

  • In the flash talk, presenters are requested to explain their research in a way that can be easily understood even by non-experts. Flask talks by different presenters will be done in quick succession, without any Q&A portion in between each talk.

  • After all the flash talks, an 80-min poster exhibit will be held at designated areas in the conference venue. The presenters should stand beside their respective posters and answer questions from the judges, who will go around the poster exhibit areas.

  • The flash-talk presentation file should be a one-page PDF file created from a standard (4:3)-sized presentation slide. The PDF file should be copied to the computer at the presentation venue (using a USB flash drive) and checked 15 min prior to the start of the flash talk session.

  • The posters for the poster exhibit should be A1-sized and vertically oriented (594 mm in width and 841 mm in height). All posters should be set up at the designated exhibit areas on Dec. 14 by 8:25 AM, regardless of the morning/afternoon poster designation. Adhesive tape will be provided for securing the posters. All posters should be promptly removed on Dec. 14 by 5:20 PM.
